Workshop “full circle”

660,00

The workshop consists of three two-hour meetings during which you make from scratch your first stoneware pots on a potter’s wheel. It’s also a solid dose of ceramic knowledge that I pass on to you during each meeting.

It’s crucial for me that when you leave my class you know why stoneware clay is the best choice for dinnerware, why do we fire it so high, what do we need to pay attention to when choosing a glaze in order not to poison anyone 😉

About the workshop

The workshop consists of three two-hour meetings during which you make from scratch your first stoneware pots on a potter’s wheel. It’s also a solid dose of ceramic knowledge that I pass on to you during each meeting.

It’s crucial for me that when you leave my class you know why stoneware clay is the best choice for dinnerware, why do we fire it so high, what do we need to pay attention to when choosing a glaze in order not to poison anyone 😉

What will I do?

First meeting (2h) – Each workshop starts with a teapot of freshly made tea! While you sit comfortably sipping aromatic mixture I’ll tell you a bit about clay itself, describe what we’re going to do at each meeting and what stages the clay has to go through to become a proper pot!

Then we’ll get to work, prepare the clay, weigh it, farm little balls from it and start throwing.

Second meeting (2h) takes place a week after the first one and this specific timeline is a necessary condition! Otherwise your work might get too dry to work with. So when we meet again we’ll proceed with the trimming of the foot of each pot. I’ll show you various ways of trimming and describe how it affects the visual effect of the finished vessel. You’ll learn how to center your pot and use various tools to achieve desired effect.

After this meeting we’ll take a longer break of about 3-4 weeks. During this time your pots will be bisque fires for 900 degrees.

The third meeting (2h) takes place when your bisqueware pots are all ready for glazing. This time I’ll tell you in detail about glazing – types and properties of glazes and best methods of applying it. I’ll explain why ceramic wax is useful and how to clean bisqueware to avoid unwanted “effects”. After this class your work will be fired for the last time for 1240 degrees.

After approx. 3-4 weeks from our last meeting your pots will be ready to collect!

Is it for me?

“Full circle” workshop is aimed at people who either already had their first experience with clay or simply feel that one meeting like “here we go” is not enough for them and deep down feel convinced that as soon as they sit down by the wheel they will get hooked 😉

The workshop was designed so that you can participate in every stage of creating a ceramic vessel. No shortcuts – you’ll do everything yourself from start to finish. Throwing, trimming of the foot of each pot and glazing.

Please note that the workshops are designed for adults.

What will it give me?

Workshops are above all else, a time to relax and get away from everyday life. Working on a potter’s wheel is completely incomparable to anything you do in your everyday life and that’s its greatest advantage!

Don’t laugh, but throwing pots is close to meditation as you concentrate on the clay and forget all else. I promise you won’t even notice when the 2 hours are up…

What do I provide you with?

I’ll provide you with aprons and warm tea and after the workshop a small surprise will be send to your email address 😉

What are the available times and dates?

Workshops are held from Monday till Friday between 10.00 – 12.00 and 18.00-20.00.

The workshop is closed on weekends.

How to make an appointment?

After purchasing the workshop, contact me by e-mail to arrange a convenient dates for our meetings! If you buy a workshop as a gift, also let me know – I’ll send you a special voucher for you to print out, fill in and give as a present. You can also drop by my studio for the printed vouchers.

Price and duration

Workshop “full circle” consists of three meetings that last 2 hours and costs 660 PLN per person. There are only three wheels in my studio, therefore only three people can take part in the workshops at the same time, which allows me to pay each participant a lot of attention.

How to prepare for workshop?

Please wear flat shoes and comfortable clothes, bearing in mind that despite the apron you might get a little dirty (nothing to worry about – clay washes of easily). I always advice (especially the girls) to keep their nails short – otherwise it might make working with clay difficult.

Also trousers make more sense when you sit by the wheel.

Remember to have your mask with you! 🙂
