Description

About the workshop

The workshop consists of five two-hour meetings during which you’ll learn how to throw various types of pots and improve your pottery skills.

What will I do?

The workshop functions in a similar way to “full circle” – we throw pots, trim them and then glaze them, although the latter will usually happen during our last meeting when we gather more work.

With regular visits to the studio, you’ll be able to spread your wings more! One by one you’ll do cups, bowls, mugs with ear (yes – you’ll learn how to pull a proper ear!), narrow necked vases, two type of containers (including one that’s made by completely closing the vessel and opening it a week later while trimming) and finally… In a way teapot is a culmination point of the course as it combines elements of all previously mastered shapes.

Along the way, there’re also experiments with the sgraffito technique or plates throwing.

Just to be clear, during one 10 h course students are able to master two/three types of the above mentioned pots. The way to mastering a teapot takes time and patience just so you know! 😉

Is it for me?

The workshop “I’m quitting my job to become a potter!” is aimed for those who already have some basic knowledge of clay and pottery, and feel that they want to dig deeper 😉

We decide on the day and time and meet up weekly to work on your individual development as a potter!

Please note that the workshops are designed for adults.

What will it give me?

Workshops are above all else, a time to relax and get away from everyday life. Working on a potter’s wheel is completely incomparable to anything you do in your everyday life and that’s its greatest advantage!

Don’t laugh, but throwing pots is close to meditation as you concentrate on the clay and forget all else. I promise you won’t even notice when the 2 hours are up…

What do I provide you with?

I’ll provide you with aprons and warm tea and after the workshop a small surprise will be send to your email address 😉

What are the available times and dates?

Workshops are held every morning from Monday till Friday between 10.00 – 12.00 and 18.00-20.00, also on Thursdays and Fridays from 16.00-18.00.

The workshop is closed on weekends.

How to make an appointment?

After purchasing the workshop, contact me by e-mail to arrange a convenient dates for our meetings! If you buy a workshop as a gift, also let me know – I’ll send you a special voucher for you to print out, fill in and give as a present. You can also drop by my studio for the printed vouchers.

Price and duration

Workshop “I’m quitting my job to become a potter!” consists of five meetings that last 2 hours and costs 800 PLN per person. There are only three wheels in my studio, therefore only three people can take part in the workshops at the same time, which allows me to pay each participant a lot of attention.

How to prepare for workshop?

Please wear flat shoes and comfortable clothes, bearing in mind that despite the apron you might get a little dirty (nothing to worry about – clay washes of easily). I always advice (especially the girls) to keep their nails short – otherwise it might make working with clay difficult.

Also trousers make more sense when you sit by the wheel.

Remember to have your mask with you! 🙂
